Questions appliance repair owners ask about marketing

Straight answers for appliance repair company owners on reviews, Google Ads, home warranty work, websites, missed calls, the benchmark data and the free 14-day trial.

How many Google reviews does an appliance repair company need?

Enough to beat the three shops Google shows next to you. Across 15,956 appliance repair listings the median is 22 reviews and 35.3% have fewer than 10. In a mid-size metro the shops that hold the map pack usually have 100 or more, and only 22.4% of the trade is there. A realistic target for a two-van shop is one new review per working day, asked for in the kitchen before the tech leaves. The reviews guide has the exact words.

What does an appliance repair lead cost on Google Ads?

Search clicks on terms like "refrigerator repair near me" run $8 to $25 in most US metros. A tracked phone call lands between $30 and $80. Local Services Ads for appliance repair charge per lead, typically $20 to $50. Shops that lose money on Google almost always run broad match on "appliance repair" with no negative keywords, so they pay for people searching for parts, manuals and YouTube fixes. See the Google Ads guide.

Should I take home warranty work?

Only with your eyes open. Home warranty companies pay $45 to $75 per claim, often with a second trip for parts at no extra pay, and they decide the schedule. It is volume, not margin. It can keep a new tech busy while your own marketing ramps up. The trap is building the whole company on it and never owning a customer. A shop at 60% warranty work usually has thin reviews and no repeat business of its own.

Is it worth advertising a diagnostic fee, or hiding it?

Advertise it. The homeowner is going to ask on the phone anyway, and the shops that say "$89 diagnostic, waived with repair" book more calls than the ones that say "it depends". Hiding the fee pushes the caller to the next listing. The pricing guide covers how to present the diagnostic, the repair quote and the replace-versus-repair conversation.

Do I need a separate page for each appliance?

Yes. "Refrigerator repair", "dryer repair" and "dishwasher repair" are searched separately and ranked separately. One page that lists everything ranks for nothing. A page per appliance with the brands you service, common faults, a price range and a tap-to-call button is the single biggest website fix for this trade. The website guide lists what each page needs.

Which brands should I say I service?

The ones you actually stock parts for and can get into warranty-authorized status with, if you want that work. Searches like "Samsung refrigerator repair" and "LG washer repair" are high intent. Listing the brand on your Google profile services and on the matching appliance page is how you catch them. Do not list 40 brands you have never touched; one bad review on a brand you cannot fix costs more than the call was worth.

How much does a missed call cost an appliance repair company?

Put your own numbers in the calculator. A typical example: 120 calls a month, 26% missed, 60% of answered calls booking at an average ticket of $220. That is roughly 19 lost bookings and over $4,000 a month gone to the next shop. A missed-call text-back that fires in under 60 seconds recovers a share of those for almost nothing.

Does Facebook advertising work for appliance repair?

Not for emergencies. Nobody with a warm fridge is scrolling Instagram. It works for things a homeowner can plan: a dryer vent cleaning offer, a washer tune-up, a "repair or replace" guide for aging refrigerators, and retargeting people who already visited your site. Leads cost $10 to $30 and need a text within minutes or they go cold. The Meta ads guide has the creative that works.

When is the slow season for appliance repair?

Late September through early November in most markets, and again the first weeks of January. Summer brings refrigerator and freezer calls; November brings ovens and ranges before holidays; January brings dishwashers and washers after guests leave. The slow season guide lays out what to run in each window.

How was the benchmark data collected?

From public Google Business Profile listings for appliance repair companies in every US state, pulled monthly, deduplicated by place, and summarized. The current set has 15,956 listings in 51 states. Nothing private is collected: review counts, ratings, website presence, photos, hours and public email are all visible to anyone. Full method on the benchmarks page.

Why does the benchmark report show both a median and a mean?

Because they tell different stories. The median appliance repair company has 22 reviews. The mean is 102, pulled up by a small number of large multi-van operations with hundreds of reviews. If you compare yourself to the mean you will feel behind for no reason. Compare yourself to the median and to the top 10%, which starts at 233 reviews.

What is included in the free 14-day trial?

Any one of the twelve services on the site, set up in your own accounts and run for two weeks. For Google Ads that means campaigns built, call tracking live and negatives pruned. For reviews it means the ask script, the text link and the follow-up. For text-back it means the automation installed on your line. You get a 20-minute setup call at the start and a plain report at the end.

What happens after the 14 days?

You get the report and a monthly price for continuing. If you say yes, it keeps running. If you say no, it stops and everything built in your accounts stays yours. There is no contract and no cancellation step because nothing was ever set to renew.

Is a card required to start the trial?

No. There is no card on file for the trial. If the service involves ad spend, that spend goes to Google or Meta directly on your own card, inside your own ad account, where you can see every dollar. Text or call (385) 534-1793 to start, or use the free trial page.
